Enjoying family time in our own backyard.
Sharing rich and delicious food with the people we love is easily the highlight of the holiday season. It’s very difficult to refuse seconds of that fantastic double-fudge brownie cake your aunt chooses to make ONLY at Christmas. Flash forward a month and here we are again at eater’s remorse. Don’t focus on your regret! Look around and see some of the wonderful places Palm Coast has to offer so you can get out, enjoy some fresh air and get in shape (all while avoiding the gym)!
Trails: One of the best aspects of our city is all of the wooded trails throughout some of our Palm Coast parks that wind through and connect our subdivisions. It’s so invigorating to go for a brisk walk after work or dinner to feel nature around you and let the gentle breeze blow away the stresses of the day. The city site even offers a map so you can plan your trips in advance! https://www.palmcoastgov.com/trek-it-out
Cardio: If walking the trails is too “relaxed” for your personality, why not head over to Belle Terre Park and make use of their racquetball courts? A real highlight of this location is the playground equipment so it can be fun exercise for the whole family!
Cycling: Learning to ride a bike as a child is an important rite of passage in our culture. The freedom and feeling the wind in your hair can make anyone excited about this exercise. Visit St. Joe Walkway/Palm Coast Linear Park and you’ll be greeted with wonderful paths to ride as well as a really cool, fully equipped bicycle maintenance station. This park also overs restrooms, Bocce ball court and pavilions.
Team Sports: Most of us make the resolution to get back in shape with friends and acquaintances that have similar goals. If you prefer team sports to work off those calories stop by James F. Holland Memorial Park. This Palm Coast park offers volleyball, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, racquetball, shuffleboard AND a dog park. It would be extremely difficult to come here and not find a fun way to shed those extra pounds!
